Nate Halverson is a two-time Emmy Award-winning senior reporter and producer at The Center for Investigative Reporting in San Francisco.


He was a producer and the lead reporter on The Grab, a feature-length documentary directed by Gabriela Cowperthwaite that followed him and a team uncovering the powerful interests vying to control global food and water supplies. The film was nominated for four Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Documentary, and won for Outstanding Research. It premiered theatrically in 2024 and now streams on Hulu in the United States and ARTE in Europe.


Nate has reported from around the world, including Russia, Guatemala, England, Zambia, Congo, China, and Venezuela. His investigations have ranged from financial fraud and organized crime to unsealing company records and exposing emails and practices that led to a $155-million settlement for those harmed.


His award-winning work has appeared on NPR's Morning Edition, All Things Considered, Fox News, CNN, Mother Jones, Newsweek, PBS NewsHour, MSNBC and elsewhere.


He has lectured and spoken at King's College at Cambridge University, Columbia University, New York University, Georgetown University, Johns Hopkins University, University of California–Berkeley.
